In the Begining

In the Beginning

When I first washed up on the shores of this island nation called Japan with few skills and little money I discovered I had everything I needed (basically a bad attitude and a copy of the want ads) to secure employment as an ESL instructor. Saying I was an instructor is a bit of a misnomer. I was more performer than teacher and my classes more of a magic show than a lesson.

Word Play is a collection of stage props from my old bag of ESL teaching tricks that I happened to find while cleaning out my closet, many years after I had hung up my wand and top hat. It takes about an hour or one typical class period to introduce the concepts (vocabulary, grammar, etc.) used in each exercise and play each game from start to finish. Use them as you'd like and let the magic of learning begin!
